July Art Exhibit

Turi Rostad – Recent Works

A Drawing by Turi Rostad

During the month of July, the Norfolk Library will showcase recent works by artist Turi Rostad. Turi grew up in Norfolk and owns a framing gallery in the house that natives remember as Doctor Barstow's office. Where once children nervously read Highlights Magazine while waiting their turn to see the kindly physician, now varying art exhibits adorn what has been tastefully converted into a gallery.

Rostad attended Syracuse University and received a B.A. from Arizona State University. She has pieces in collections in Exeter, New Hampshire; New York; Palm Beach, Florida; and Scottsdale, Arizona. Turi has received awards from the Magidani Gallery in Scottsdale and the Hartford International Show.

Turi's artwork is a satisfying blurred reality; charcoal landscapes beckon and dare the viewer to enter. Turi's work is always fresh and present and seduces by demanding audience participation. The opening reception for this exhibition is Sunday, July 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

For more information or images please call 646-742-7010 or log on to www.simonaldridge.com.

The opening reception is Sunday, June 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The show is on view through July 2nd.

Summertime Computer Classes

A man very frustrated by his computer

The winter computer series was a hit! Ann and Josh DeCerbo, local computer experts from DeCerbo Design, are proud to announce a second series of computer seminars slated for afternoons this summer.

They've designed five seminars that focus on common tasks using widely available software. Seminar topics include: Using Personal Address Lists (Microsoft Excel/Word), Creating a Desktop Newsletter (Microsoft Word), Setting up a Home Budget (Microsoft Excel), Making a Photo Slide Show (Picasa), and Preparing Effective Powerpoint Presentations (Microsoft Powerpoint). DeCerbo Design will prepare and present a Powerpoint presentation for each seminar and post the presentations online.

The seminars will have a solid structure, but offer enough flexibility to allow student needs and questions to drive the discussions. Seminars are scheduled for Tuesday afternoons, 3:00 to 4:30 pm, in July and August.

For reservations please call the Norfolk Library at 860 542-5075.
